Energetic Protection Through Daily Lifestyle Practices
Today I’m discussing Energetic Protection and how to add energetic protection through your daily lifestyle habits.
I’ve noticed that many Western spiritual and magical traditions focus on creating specific energetic interventions to eliminate negative spirits. The type of energetic protection I am focusing on is different. It is neutral in nature.
I’d like you to imagine energetic protection as seal blubber or whale blubber. It isn’t explicitly positive or negative; it serves as an insulation from you and the external world. It allows you to keep your energy for yourself rather than seeping it to the outside world through benign attrition or targeted negative entities. This type of energetic protection is You-centered.
Food
Food is a straightforward concept to grasp. The nutrients and energies of the food we consume enter our bodies to heal and strengthen us. A chicken broth can provide protection —both nutritionally and energetically—from sickness or cold.
When it comes to the energy of food, the source matters:
Was your meat ethically raised—meaning the animal lived a minimally cruel life?
Were your vegetables subject to pesticides that might energetically impact their quality?
Did the humans who grew and harvested your produce experience fair working conditions and fair pay?
Every negative energetic interaction in the process of you bringing food to your table impacts the quality of energetic absorption when you eat. If you grow or raise your own food, that energetic impact is strengthened because you played a direct role in creating it, leaving an imprint of recognition.
The best way to start enhancing your food consumption for protection is to make sure that what you’re eating looks and feels like food to you. If it feels divorced from your own personal image of food because too chemical or food processing has been done to it, your own system will have a hard time registering and extracting energy from it. The next step is developing an awareness of the energetic journey of where your food comes from and making changes to minimize sourcing foods that have experienced negative energetic interference.
Nature
Spending time in nature is like going to the spa for your body. When you go out into nature, Mother Earth is extra able connect with you and support your healing. In addition, certain nature spirits and entities are able to connect with you because you have made the effort to be in physical proximity to them. Earth is our main power grid for energy. When you step out in nature, Earth can plug pure energy back into you with you with minimal effort required on your end.
Clothing
Clothing literally protects our bodies from the external environment. Like food, the materials used in your clothing have energetic impact. As it stands today, the majority of people participate in fast fashion where their clothes are made in a different country using synthetic materials by people enduring significant oppression.
To start, polyester and other synthetic materials aren’t going to provide much energetic protection. Natural materials like wool or cotton has energetic and spiritual properties that can provide energetic buffers for you. Participating in exploitation by participating in fast fashion latches microscopic pieces of karma onto you, which will have to be resolved eventually. It’s important to be aware of whether the humans making your clothes are being treated fairly or are being subject to inhumane conditions - that energy will also latch onto your clothing and bring negative energy directly into your field, doing the complete opposite of protecting you.
A good way to start addressing this is to seek out garments made from natural fibers. The next course of action would be to stop purchasing new garments made in unethical working conditions. Alternatives include buying secondhand or used garments, buying new from ethical clothing companies, or making your own clothes.
The Systemic Severance
There used to be a time when most people in the world had an intimate relationship with food, clothing, and nature. That relationship created a constant baseline of energetic protection because you were always intaking positive elements into your body and space that held their own energetic properties which you would access. Even as you absorb the positive energy from a garment or meal, demonstrating a respectful attitude is important in order to create a balanced energetic exchange. Conversely, if we are disrespectful by intentionally wasting food and clothing as a demonstration of our “wealth”, our actions create negative karma.
Our current society is structured by capitalism and corporate interests to intentionally sever us from accessing these natural energetic barriers. Fast fashion is a prime example of how commercialism has eroded the protective buffer of clothing. When we lack accessible ways to protect and strengthen ourselves at the root, we become reliant on quick fixes—like temporary hype or dopamine spikes—to bolster our energetic bodies.
The most fundamental practices of healing stem from interactions in our daily life. By living in connection with nature, animals, and plants around us, we increase our allyship on Mother Earth and dramatically reduce our vulnerability to negative energies.
